BSN-19 (en)BELCAR SHORT NEWS 2006-09-18 – BSN19 The first champions of the Belcar Series are known. Luc Moortgat wins the class-3 of the Youngtimer Trophy in the Belcar Historic Sprint, as he now counts 30 units more than Henri Alberts – Triumph – while, with only one race to go, only 20 points still can be gained. In the overall standings of the Belcar Historic Sprint, Moortgat is now safely in third position even if mathematically he still can become champion. But there’s little chance to see both Van Elderen en Govaerts having a very bad last weekend. Hélène Dielen – Austin Healey – wins, being the only lady, the Ladies Challenge. The main news from the Mediagroep Van Dyck Belcar Original is SRT coming to the Spa Racing Festival, the next round of the series on the 7th and 8th of October, with two C5-R’s. Even if the team won the last editions of the Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder, team manager Patrick Selleslagh had a bad feeling after the race. In an official press release, he expressed his feelings: In class-2, the battle is wide open. The ProSpeed-duo Penders / Lamot will do everything possible to obtain the title. The team lost precious points in the opening round, the Belcar First Race, as the gearbox failed and GS-Motorsport took victory. The difference now is 12 units and with the mighty BMW V8 showing a mix of reliability and speed, the battle will be very severe. At Spa, the Porsche should be quicker, but there are also the G&A Mosler of Gino Kenis and the returning Michaël de Keersmaecker or the CEO/PSI Porsche RSR. Both teams are very quick and could well be a referee in the battle between ProSpeed and GS. During the Zolder 24 hours, all cars, except the C5-R (1180 kg), drove without ballast, but after the Eurospeedway and the Euphony 24 Hours of Zolder things change dramatically. In class-1 the Corvettes now carry the maximum and are up to 1280 kg, while the Eurotech Marcos has 90 kilo’s more and weighs 1190 kilo’s. In class-2, both the BMW V8 and the ProSpeed Porsche are up to 1050 kilo’s or the maximum possible. The KS BMW Silhouette and the CEO/PSI RSR will have to run with 5 kilo’s more and the CEO-Porsche RS, the Mosler and the Dodge Viper will run without any ballast again. In class-3, the First Motorsport Porsche of Haane / Meert will have to carry the maximum of 50 kilo’s, with the NGT Porsche carrying 30 kilo’s, the Ultima 15 kilo’s and the GS Porsche of Van Loo / Thomas 10 kilo’s. All the other competitors are back on zero.
