X-City Press Launch
Heading out onto a route that took in some of the city’s most interesting sights, the journalists who attended rode together in small groups, pausing for breath at three scheduled stops. Here, they were introduced to the Yamaha brand and its latest high-wheel scooter in just the sort environment that the model’s target buyer might live – an environment that combines thrusting urban traffic with open-road runs. Needless to say, the new X-City was in its element.
Boasting an impressive array of innovative design and engineering features, the stylish new X-City ensures the ‘commuter experience’ is both comfortable and fun. For the visiting journalists on the launch, the model’s superior ease of access and a luxurious, stepped dual seat, together with the spectacular sights, sounds and smells of one southern Italy’s most cosmopolitan cities, combined to deliver a memorable ride.

Appealing to a wide range of city commuters, the high-wheel X-City is Yamaha’s latest new-generation scooter for 2007 that offers class-leading levels of comfort, performance, practicality and style. Key highlights in its quality construction include low-height footboards that allow you to place your feet on the ground when in slow or stationary traffic and useful under-seat storage that swallows either a helmet or a business bag. There is also a handy glove compartment and a carry hook for smaller bags.

The X-City is Yamaha’s first foray into the high-wheel market, and there’s no better way to enter a new sector than with a benchmark success. Using a 16-inch wheel at the front, and a smaller 15-inch wheel at the back, the X-City provides excellent, stable handling and controlled, supple damping. And both of these qualities were really put to the test on the twisting, cobbled streets of old historic Naples. With a 249cc, 4-stroke engine that delivers strong, zippy performance and smooth, seamless acceleration, the X-City is a must for hassle-free, urban commuting. Add to this the model’s excellent fuel efficiency, quiet-running exhaust and low emissions output, and the reasons why become clear.
